FAME FASHION & FAST CARS - Mar 19 to October 28 2010

This collection chronicles the high life of the 1960s and 1970s and features stars such as Dirk Bogarde, Dustin Hoffman, Roger Moore, James Coburn and Jill Kennington

The late Patrick Lichfield became a visual commentator of these exciting, free-thinking times and Jill, now also a photographer, was very much at the centre of the glamorous world of fashion during this period.

Iconic Sixties super model, Jill Kenninington, who opened the exhebition at the start of the season said: “At 19 I had a Christmas job at Harrods and was spotted by a model scout at a party.  “It was just as the mood of the era was changing.  I didn’t consider myself a conventional beauty and yet a year later I was the face of Vogue.”  Jill, now 66, often worked with Patrick Lichfield during the period.  She said: “He had his finger on the pulse, as well as his camera; he was hard to keep up with and his enthusiasm and freedom took him all over the world.  “His easy going and affable personality enabled him to be at ease with absolutely everyone he photographed and he had no barriers, socially.

“When I worked with him in the 60’s, I would never have guessed that he would indeed be still working in the following century.”

Featuring eight images which have never been on display before, the exhibition at Lord Lichfield’s ancestral home, is of a calibre rarely seen outside London. Jill opened the collection at the begining of the season.  The exhibition, which also features artefacts and memorabilia belonging to Patrick Lichfield, will run at the Staffordshire stately home until October 28 2010
