EXHIBITIONS 2009

‘Material Girls’ Exhibition – County Museum, Shugborough
20th March – 29th October

The exhibition uses a variety of objects from the County Museum Collection managed by Staffordshire Arts and Museum Service.  A selection of items were also loaned from the Design Study Collection, part of Staffordshire University.

Costume and objects on display include

• Pink cotton Day dress from Wheeldon Tailors Shop in Abbots Bromley
• Cotton Summer dress
• Wedding dress and bolero jacket made by the donor for her wedding in Crewe in 1956
• Silk evening dress worn in the 1950s to the savoy and Dorchester in London.
• Rayon Crepe evening dress
• Gold evening dress

• Bush Television
• Electrolux Vacuum Cleaner
• Kenwood Mixer
• New World Gas Cooker
• Roberts Radio
• Pifco Hairdryer
• 2 saucepans
• Goblin Teas made
• Morphy Richards Toaster

• A selection of Melamine Cups and Saucers, Food Containers, egg cups and 2 pairs of shoes have been kindly loaned by Design Study Collection, Staffordshire University for the exhibition.

The exhibition is open 11am – 5pm daily between 20 March and 29th October 2009.
