Lord Lichfield’s Christmas Pudding - NOVEMBER & DECEMBER
Join us for a glass of sherry before taking a tour of the Servants’ Quarters. Meet the servants then visit the brewhouse, coach house and then into the kitchen and laundry to see the famous Lichfield Christmas Pudding being prepared.
Festive Decorations (December 7 -17 2009)
A seasonal guided tour of the Mansion House. Traditional decorations can be viewed in their original stately splendour with fires and candles to light your way. A glass of sherry is included in your tour.
Both the above experiences can be enjoyed either daytime or evening and can be combined with a 2 or 3 course lunch or dinner or a Christmas Afternoon Tea. Price for either experience: £10 plus catering if applicable. Minimum of 15
Festive Christmas Evenings (December 2 - 5 2009)
The Mansion House and Servants’ Quarters are candlelit and decorated with flowers and traditional trimmings. There will be street entertainers, a large gift marquee and festive food available to complete the region’s premier magical Christmas event. Not to be missed. Times: 5.00 pm until 9.00 pm

What The Dickens Experience & Tour (available Nov through to March)
You’ll be crying out for more at our “What the Dickens” experience which offers a private sitting with Mr & Mrs Bumble in the Grand Saloon of The Mansion House, as they present a dizzying selection of Dickensian readings and traditional parlour games in front of a roaring open fire. The experience includes a downstairs house tour, plus you may add a sumptuous afternoon tea to be enjoyed before or after the readings.

WINTER VISITS FOR GROUPS

If you would like to visit us during the winter, the following activities are available during the daytime.
(Miniumum group size of 20)
Conservation Tour
A fascinating insight into the care and upkeep of a grand country house during the winter months. Find out about the traditional methods of cleaning, including using hog’s hair brushes. Find out about traditional methods of cleaning historic collections and how we protect the collections from decay such as wear and tear, insects, light and humidity.
Available January to March 2010. Price: £10 per person. Can be combined with a 2 or 3 course lunch or dinner.
Lunch with the Housekeeper
Prospective servants in your group will discover the gruelling standards of hygiene required to win a position on the staff at Shugborough. This activity will take your group on a guided tour of the Servants’ Quarters, seeing life as it was in 1871. Try your hand at the chores in the kitchen and laundry then complete your visit with a hot meal in our Lady Walk Tearoom.
